MSA in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, MI 1992. MILITARY EXPERIENCE/AWARDS:Major (Ret) Gregory Smith was in the Army from 1979 to 1996. An Arizona native, he graduated from ROTC and immediately went into the Army as a tank platoon leader. He has held various jobs in the Army, to include platoon leader, company executive officer, company commander, military history and leadership instructor, and assistant battalion operations officer. From 1992 to 1995 he was the Professor of Military Science at California University of Pennsylvania, just south of Pittsburgh. In December 1993 he received his Master's degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Liberation of Kuwait Medal. During the Gulf War, Major Smith, then a captain, served with the First Battalion, 34th Armor (M1A1), as part of the First Infantry Division, which earned a Valorous Unit Award for combat operations against Iraqi army units and the Tawakalna Division. (RGFC). MILITARY TRAINING-Armor Officer Basic Course WARGAMING EXPERIENCE:Began board wargaming in 1972 with Tactics II. Early favorite titles include War In Europe, Panzer Leader, Squad Leader, Terrible Swift Sword, Wacht am Rhein and Sniper!. Has betatested wargaming software exclusively for HPS Simulations for two years. Favorite computer wargame software include Kampfpanzer, Panzer Strike, Civilization, X-Com, Air Warrior, SWOTL, Steel Panthers, Tigers on the Prowl, and Panthers in the Shadows. |
